Coca-Cola in the Running for Business in the Community Award

Lisburn based Coca-Cola HBC Northern Ireland, which employs 1100 people across the island of Ireland, including many from the Lisburn area, is pleased to have been short-listed for Business in the Community’s ‘Workplace Health and Wellbeing Award’ at its 2011 Regional Recognition Awards for corporate responsibility.

The company has taken a number of positive steps to enhance the health and wellbeing of its employees. In addition to standard benefits such as the provision of a healthcare scheme for all employees and their families and the introduction of an occupational health service, a number of Health and wellbeing road shows have been hosted. These road shows provide employees with nutritional advice, drug and alcohol awareness, blood pressure and cholesterol testing, smoking cessation guidance and a range of complimentary therapies such as Indian head massage and acupressure back massage.

Denise Collins, Organisation Development Manager for Coca-Cola says that the company is proud that these efforts have been recognised by Business in the Community. “Coca-Cola HBC Northern Ireland is a responsible employer with a vision to have a healthy and engaged workforce where employees feel valued and are rewarded for their commitment. Coca-Cola has previously been named Business in the Community ‘Responsible Company of the Year’ and has also won a ‘Big Tick’ award for ‘Healthy Communities’ for three consecutive years. We are delighted to have now been recognised for our efforts in the area of workplace health and wellbeing.”

Paul Rooney, Chair, Business in the Community, Northern Ireland adds:“Yet again we have had a great response to these awards and from a wider range of companies than ever, suggesting that we are indeed deepening the culture of corporate responsibility in Northern Ireland, which is part of our aim.” The winners of these prestigious awards will be announced at Business in the Community’s ‘Celebrating the Power of Responsible Business’ Gala Awards Dinner at Belfast’s Waterfront Hall on 9th June.
